Who we are
At The Fernweh Traveler, we focus on travel and keep data sharing and retention to an absolute minimum. It’s a hassle for everyone, amirite? The only thing we’ll ever ask for is your name and email address – and that’s just to send you notifications of new blog posts or updates on the European Travel Course for Women. Literally nothing else. Read on for more details (and grab a pint of your favorite beer when you’re done – we will be too). Cheers!
Types of data we collect
Google Analytics is a pretty nifty third-party service that collects standard internet log information and visitor behavior patterns and details. Why is this useful? So we can find out the number of visitors to each component of the site. We’d like to know which blog posts are most popular, so we can develop more like them, as well as which aspects of the site are less popular. No identifying components are tracked as part of this information being processed. We don’t try (or let Google try, for that matter) to find out any identifying information about our visitors. (So, if Hugh Jackman could proactively let us know when he visits our site, that’d be great.)
We send out an occasional e-newsletter to tell you about new blog posts and progress on the European Travel Course for Women. We’d also use the e-newsletter to obtain or provide additional information, make sure our records are up-to-date, and that you’re happy with what we’re providing. The e-newsletter goes out via MailChimp, a third-party provider. Statistics are gathered around email opening and clicks, via industry-standard tech that frankly we don’t understand. (But that’s why we use MailChimp, because they do it for us.)
For more information, please see MailChimp’s privacy notice. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link at the bottom of our emails or by reaching out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org; naturally, we’d be super sad to see you go, but understand that things change.
We don’t share your data with anyone. Literally.
